What is Radon?
The Environmental Protection Agency has determined Radon to be the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer.
Radon is a colorless, odorless, radioactive gas. It occurs naturally through the breakdown of uranium deposits underground. Radon gas rises up through the soil and into your home. All homes have some Radon and it is important to test your home to be sure the levels do not exceed EPA guidelines of 4pci/L.
Why should I be concerned about radon?
Radon is the greatest source of radiation exposure to the general public and is the second leading cause of lung cancer. High Levels of Radon exposure can be as harmful to your lungs as smoking cigarettes.
A Radon level of 7pci/L is comparable to smoking a pack of cigarettes each day of exposure. Radon can be especially harmful to children.
What's the good news?
The good news is that high Radon levels can be reduced in your home by installing a Radon Mitigation system.
